Here is a list of Topics.

General Liability

General Liability Covers your business  for many of the public and product liability risks.

Generally, liability insurance covers only the risk of being sued for negligence or strict liability torts, but not any tort or crime with a higher level of mens rea. This is usually mandated either by the policy language itself or case law or statutes in the jurisdiction where the insured resides or does business.

In other words, liability insurance does not protect against liability resulting from crimes or intentional torts committed by the insured. This is intended to prevent criminals, particularly organized crime, from obtaining liability insurance to cover the costs of defending themselves in criminal actions brought by the state or civil actions brought by their victims. A contrary rule would encourage the commission of crime, and allow insurance companies to indirectly profit from it, by allowing criminals to insure themselves from adverse consequences of their own actions.

Commercial Auto

As a businessowner, you need the same kinds of insurance coverages for the car you use in your business as you do for a car used for personal travel — liability, collision and comprehensive, medical payments (known as personal injury protection in some states) and coverage for uninsured motorists. In fact, many business people use the same vehicle for both business and pleasure. If the vehicle is owned by the business, make sure the name of the business appears on the policy as the “principal insured” rather than your name. This will avoid possible confusion in the event that you need to file a claim or a claim is filed against you.

Whether you need to buy a business auto insurance policy will depend on the kind of driving you do. Florida Business Insurance will ask you many details about how you use vehicles in your business, who will be driving them and whether employees, if you have them, are likely to be driving their own cars for your business.

While the major coverages are the same, a business auto policy differs from a personal auto policy in many technical respects. Ask our agent to explain all the differences and options.

Commercial Umbrella

Commercial Umbrella is a liability coverage that goes beyond your liability coverage.  Once your liability has been exaushted the umbrella coverage kicks in.

Group Health

Probably the most well known of all the forms of insurance because it covers employees who need medical attention.

Commercial Property

Insurance in Florida is very different there is no better example of this than in commercial property insurance.  Ask your self this how many other states really deal with hurricane’s?  Do you think an agent in Tennessee does?  Of course not!

Commercial Property in Florida has to deal with many different aspects.

  • Hurricane Deductibles
  • Non Hurricane Deductibles
  • Theft Deductibles
  • Sink Hole Coverage
  • Theft

Typically you find that Commercial Property will be sold on either a stand alone policy, package policy or a business owners policy also called a “BOP”.  The BOP policy is a more comprehensive policy and is the best way to purchase property insurance.  If this is not an option you can get one of the other two different types.  Make sure you find out the gaps or holes in the policy prior to purchasing.

Workers Compensation

Their is alot of information about the subject and therefore it’s not possible to cover all the details in this page.  But we will go over some of the basics of what you need to know to. Obviously if you have an existing business then you know the importance of having this type of coverage.

What is Workers Comp.

Workers Compensation is also know as Workers Comp, Workmen’s Compensation and some variations of the terms. Workers Compensation is insurance for the emplyees for if he or she get’s hurt or injuried on the job and can’t preform there duties.

Who has to provide Wokers Comp?

Workers Compensation has to be provided by the employer.  The rule of thumb is if you are a non construciton business you are not required to provide unless there are 4 or more employees.  Excluding officers and owners if you wish to exempt them.  For the Construction industry you are required to carry if you have any employees.

How do Insurance Companies Charge for the Coverage?

This question can be a little complicated to answer but in general the State of Florida publish’s a chart of rates for every job duty.  This is called the base rate and there is a price based on job duites because each job function and the risk associated with it is different.  If you work a desk all day it is unlikely that you will be hurt as offten as let say and landscaper that uses machinery all day long.   The rate is based on how much gross salary is paid to each employee.  The more hours this employee works the more it cost to insure that emplyee.

An important note that should not be overlooked because of the way policies work is when you take out a policy you have to estimate what you think your payroll will be for the year. estimating means you guessing.  At the end of the policy the insurance companies send out and auditor to examing you books and see what  you actually paid to  your employees.  As you can probably guess if the payroll is less you will be given your money back.  If you you paid more to your employees your gonna owe some money.
